How to use AuthorText
A short guide: from checking a text to registering and subscribing.
01/Checking a text
- Open the analyzer page and paste the text into the field on the left. You can also load a text from a link or from a file (PDF, DOCX, ODT, RTF, EPUB, FB2, HTML, TXT, MD): the tabs above the field.
- Press "Check". On the right you get an overall score (0 to 100) and bars for the separate signals: variation of sentence and paragraph length, stock phrases, connective words, hidden characters and others.
- Below the score you see the spots in the text with quotes. Click a spot and the text scrolls to the right line. The "Highlight" tab shows such spots right in the text.
- The "What you could improve" block shows which fragments are written too evenly and how to fix them. In the free mode only a counter is shown; the details open on paid plans.
- The clean button removes hidden characters and simplifies typography; then you can copy or download the text. If the text is longer than your plan allows, only the part that fits is cleaned and kept.
02/Reading the result
- The score rests on statistical features of the text. From about 50 points a text looks AI-written, and from 70 it is a strong sign. It is a guide, not proof of authorship.
- On short texts (under a few hundred words) the score is less reliable, and the service says so. Texts of some genres (advertising, social media) are judged more cautiously.
- The text is sent to the server only for analysis and is not stored.
03/Plans and limits
- Without logging in the free plan applies: up to 3,000 characters, the main signal bars and the first 3 spots with quotes.
- Paid subscriptions: Basic (€3 a month), Plus (€9.99), Pro (€19.99, with an API key) and Max (€24.99, no limit on the number of checks). They give longer texts, all the spots with quotes, the metrics table and the detailed breakdown. Compare them on the "Plans" page.
- Which bars are shown is set in "Menu -> Settings".
04/Registering and logging in
- Press "Log in" in the top right corner. There are two ways; pick the one that suits you.
- A code by e-mail: enter an address, receive a six-digit code (valid 10 minutes) and enter it. No password is needed, and the address is the login. The account is created on the first login.
- Login and password: choose the "Login and password" tab -> "Create an account", pick a login and a password (at least 8 characters). The e-mail is optional.
- Both ways can use the same e-mail address: they are two separate accounts. If you do not see the code option, sending mail is switched off at the moment; use login and password.
- A login lasts about 12 hours. You can log out in the menu.
05/Your cabinet
- Open "Menu -> Cabinet" (after logging in). It shows the sign-in method, the login or e-mail, your subscription (plan, status, date of the next renewal or of the end) and how long the login lasts.
- The "E-mail and password" card: confirm the address with a code, after which the password can be changed with a code sent to that address. A sign-in by code has no password.
- If the owner of the service issued the account, its plan is assigned by hand, and subscribing works as for any other account.
06/Subscribing and paying
- Open the "Plans" page, choose a plan and press "Subscribe". If you are not logged in, the login window opens first. You then go to the PayPal page and confirm the subscription there.
- Payment is through PayPal only. The site never asks for or receives bank-card data.
- The subscription renews every month until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in your cabinet: the plan then stays active until the end of the paid period.
- You can change the plan on the "Plans" page or in your cabinet: PayPal asks you to confirm the change.
- Questions about payments and refunds: [email protected].
07/For programs (API)
For requests from your own programs you need the Pro or Max subscription and a key, created in the cabinet. Description and examples: the "For developers" page.
